The intelligence, refinement and visualization of the distribution system are the trends of distribution management. The smart electricity meter is designed and installed for the power distribution circuit to monitor the working status of each load circuit in real time by setting the parameters of the smart meter. It can improve the safety of energy use, increase the efficiency of equipment maintenance, reduce the labor cost of maintenance and realize the unattended monitoring of the distribution systems. Through data collection, real-time monitoring of electrical parameters, analysis of power quality and the working status of the distribution system, users can save energy maintenance costs. This article gives a brief introduction to the Acrel PZ current and frequency meter used in the motor monitoring project of the Icelandic company Tandraberg ehf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Project overview<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tandraberg ehf, based in Eskifj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, is one of the largest manufacturers of refrigerated pallets in Iceland. The main power source for production is the motor used for cutting. Since the original motor and control cabinet are not equipped with a power meter, the operating status of the variable frequency drive and motor is unknown. Therefore, an Acrel PZ series three-phase current meter was purchased to monitor the motor current and a frequency meter to monitor the frequency change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PZ series of meters adopts AC sampling technology, which can separately measure the current, voltage, power, power factor and electric energy parameters in the grid. It can set the electric parameters through the button on the panel. This meter has RS-485 communication interface, adopts Modbus protocol; also can convert the power signal into a standard DC analog signal.The meter also has switch input\/output, relay\/alarm output, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
